WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I am a huge fan of the 20/20 show "What would you do?".  It creates all kinds of situations to see if people will speak up or take action to protect someone who is being treated badly.  Last week they ran an episode in a bridal store.  The premise was the mother of the bride was being very critical and cruel to her daughter who was trying on wedding dress.  Even though the behavior of the two actresses in the show was extreme it did highlight how stressful planning a wedding can be for a mother and daughter.  Mothers are feeling the loss of having there little girl to take care of and the daughter is feeling empowered in this new chapter of her life.  Both want it to be a perfect day but sometimes they don't have the same view of what that perfect day will look like.  My advice is this for prospective brides and mothers of the brides to help keep the fun in planning this momentous occasion.  Brides, you will always be your mother's little girl and she always wants what is best for you, listen to her opinions and include her when ever you can. Mothers, this is your daughter's day not yours, it is the first opportunity to introduce their style and personality as a couple to their friends and family. Let them do it their way.  I would also highly encourage (you are about to be surprised) you to hire a planner to help relieve that stress between you and create a fun environment for planning and enjoying this amazing moment in your lives.

Upcoming Summer Events- Mark your calendar!

I am working with the United Way of Ottawa County again this year to organize fundraising events.  Due to the huge success of last years Gem Beach Rock 'n' Roll Reunion we have decided to do it again this year.  The event will be called (appropriately) Gem Beach Rocks.....Again and will be held on Sat Aug 15th from 12-8 at the park down by Gem Beach.  It will be a day of fun in the sun listening to live music, eating good food and enjoying a few cold beverages.  The second event will be held earlier in the summer on  Sat June 20th from 3-7 at a local bar/restaurant called The Lagoon Saloon. This will also be an outdoor event along the water with great pizza, cold beverages, and live music.  Both events will be a really great time for a really great cause so if you are in the area we would love to have you come and join us.

Internet Radio Interview

Last Friday I had an opportunity to do an interview with Joan Bryden who hosts Food for Thought on the new online radio station in Port Clinton, Oh.  The station is WPCR and the website is portclintonradio.com.  The interview is located in the program archives on their website under Food for Thought 2/6.   It was the first interview like this I have ever done and I have to admit I was a little nervous but I think the interview turned out well.  Take a listen, I think it will give you a little more insight into who I am and my philosophies on planning events.

Calling All Brides!

Did you know that the average bride will spend 250 hours planning her wedding?  Brides who hire a wedding planner spend on average only 50 hours planning their wedding. What a difference! A wedding is the most important and most memorable day of your life and you should be able to enjoy every moment of it.
Most brides find themselves stressed out, confused, and running at this frenzied pace to get everything just perfect for their big day that by the time the day arrives they are exhausted and ready for it to be over.  Don't be that bride get help!  I can give you as much or as little help as you need.  I can help you plan the wedding from beginning to end, I can help coordinate the rehearsal and day of the wedding only, or I can help you with individual elements of the wedding like finding a venue or photographer.  You don't have to do it alone, let me help.
